The "Would you reply to this email" test

Whenever you're writing a sales email or an email that has the objective of getting a reply - use this lens 🔎

1) Write the email with a clear call-to-action (CTA) at the end

"Do you have 30 mins on Tuesday to discuss this? I'll send an invite.

2) Read the email out loud

3) Skim the email

Then ask yourself - "Would I reply to this email?"

If the answer is NO -> Write it again.

Give your team more focus with daily stand-ups

I hired a guy in Q4 who built and exited several agencies including productizing the entire operations.

He recommended more meetings which I was hesitant about at first.

Then In October, we started doing morning stand-ups for 15 minutes max.

It's super simple where the team jumps on and a leader asks each person for their tasks/focus for the day.

This is a real game-changer for a remote team.

The unintended win here is urgent tasks and fires can be addressed first thing in the morning without having to create a task force or special meeting.

People absorb your Emotions

Last year I had the opportunity to be in the room with Jeff Henderson (Forbes Magazine's Top 20 speaker list) and he taught us this lesson...

"The dominant emotion of the leader in your organization will become the team's emotion."

Then he challenged us with this

"What emotion do you want to be dominant in your business?"

After some reflection, I pulled up the emotion wheel and chose these:

Happy -> Strong -> Powerful

Happy -> Optimistic -> Inspired

Happy -> Confident -> Self-assured

​

Inspired and self-confident people are going to believe in themselves and help you win.

So that's what I focus on exuding into my people every day.
